What is technology engineering?

Technology Engineering is an engineering discipline that integrates mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering with computer science. These engineers excel in developing modern products featuring moving mechanical parts, electronic circuits, computer chips, and motion sensors interconnected through computer code. They are responsible for designing, constructing, testing, and analyzing these many faceted systems.

What does a technology engineer do?

Technology Engineers work in a wide variety of industries. Some common jobs include: 

  • Mechatronics Engineer

  • Software Integration Engineer

  • Embedded System Engineer

  • System Cybersecurity Engineer

  • Robotics or Automation Engineer

  • Data Engineer

  • Test Engineer

  • Manufacturing Engineer

Concentrations

TechE requires a concentration selection that is part of the 128 credits needed to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Engineering. The concentration and any additional minors will be noted on the student's academic record.
